UK POS wants creativity at the forefront of Easter promotions

February 19, 2010

UK POS Group Limited is encouraging retailers and their marketing departments to start looking at alternative methods of promotion to boost much-needed sales over the Easter period. The UK manufacturer of PoS materials believes ideas such as Easter recipe cards in counter-top leaflet dispensers or Easter baskets and hampers on display supports are the type of promotions to turn browsers into spenders this year..

The retailers’ Easter is no longer just about chocolate eggs; it has fast become the second biggest sales time, even first for many retailers. The fact is, consumers typically associate the Easter period with the start of spring; bringing with it longer days, warmer weather and a sense of renewed vigour, and retailers grab onto this optimism when promoting it. It is therefore not just a key date for food retailers, but also gardening and DIY, food and drink outlets and even fashion retailers. The simple fact is with warmer weather, consumers want to be out and about and with that comes spending.

Ultimately special offers need to be effectively promoted, never more so than now when stores are fighting for sales. But in difficult times, promotional materials need to come in at a credit crunching cost. UK POS items tick both boxes.

That means stores can provide fluidity to promotions, from outside, as part of window displays and then in-store. Using a combination of anything from A Boards, to show cards, shelf talkers and poster holders will pass on a clear and consistent message to the customer. Yet, UK POS predict that the real key to standing out from the crowd this Easter will be to offer shoppers unique promotions or added value USP’s. These too can be promoted through the use of PoS.

Speaking of her predictions for this Easter, Sales and Marketing Director of UK POS, Debra Jamieson commented:

“Easter is much later this year, allowing consumers to claw back from Christmas spending. With a bit of luck the milder temperatures of spring will start to kick in too, blowing away those winter blues. Taking that into consideration, consumer spending could see a vast improvement on like-for-like sales. Hopefully retailers and marketing departments will pick up on this and look to traditional PoS to support their in-store promotions. ”

UK POS assists retailers through the winter blues

January 25, 2010

UK Point Of Sale Group Limited (UK POS) is encouraging all retailers to refresh tired looking post Christmas and New Years Point of Sale (PoS) merchandise especially with 2010 seasonal events around the corner. As such, the leading UK manufacturer of Point of Sale display and PoS products will offer several special product promotions over the next few weeks.

Sales and marketing director of UK POS, Debra Jamieson explained:
“It is a perfect opportunity for retailers to re-vamp shop displays starting with Valentines Day, as January and subsequently the January sales come to an end. To attract shoppers into refreshed stores and to encourage up and cross-selling on seasonal products, retailers should advertise their top promotions and UK POS wants to offer a helping hand in doing so.”

Offers will include discounted product prices, bulk buy discounts and reduced carriage on a selection of seasonal friendly display products from UK POS’ 3000 plus product range.

By selecting a few key products, such as leaflet dispensers, ballot boxes, snap frames and pavement signs (all of which reusable), retailers can easily update store displays. That way, customers can interchange graphics from a Valentines Day display into an Easter Promotion.

Debra Jamieson concluded:
“This year we still expect consumers to be feeling the pinch and conscious of what they spend their money on. Retailers naturally feel the same pinch and essentially need to work hard to communicate special offers with PoS products that are cost effective to them. With Valentines Day, St Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter and St George’s Day all within weeks of each other, a quick turn around in displaying these offers and promotions will be necessary.”

With UK POS’ next day delivery service at hand, retailers can have their PoS products delivered in time for Valentines Days and the key dates which follow.

UK POS elects Ballot Boxes as a must have for 2010

UK Point Of Sale Group Limited is highlighting its range of suggestion and ballot boxes, as the UK manufacturer of point of sale (PoS) and display materials predicts a customer focused 2010. A rise in ballot box and suggestion box enquiries highlights the importance of customer feedback in a continually tough spending climate.

Debra Jamieson, marketing and sales director for UK POS commented:
“It may be a New Year which generally means a new start, but as retailers face the same threat of low consumer spending in 2010, it would seem that customer influence and demand will make a bigger impact than it has in previous, more financially buoyant years. Generally consumers have stripped back their spending habits so it’s important to know what they want from their shopping experience and retailers will be expected to do act on the feedback generated.”

One way to gain feedback in-store, when a customer is most in-tune with their in-store experience, is the use of suggestion/ballot boxes. If strategically placed and used in-line with a marketing promotion such as a giveaway, they can achieve good results, whether that is getting contact details or asking specific questions on an area of possible improvement.

UK POS offers a variety of suggestion and ballot boxes such as the newest product to its range, the Suggestion Box with Header. Manufactured in white acrylic, it can be used on the counter or wall mounted and includes a header poster holder available in A4 portrait or A5 landscape and a side pocket for A6 or 1/3 A4 leaflets. Other products in the range include suggestion boxes with locks and floor standing boxes for larger promotions. For customers requiring an easy to transport version, UK POS can also supply the flat pack Cardboard Ballot Box which is ideal for one-off promotions and useful for exhibitions.

This range is featured in UK POS’ Display Buyers Guide, which with over 200 pages of display ideas, can be ordered at www.ukpos.com

Use POS tools to increase your sales

June 28, 2009

Advertising can only do so much. The final incentive to purchase is left to be carried out by point of sale displays. Point of sale displays or POS as they are commonly referred to in marketing circles, are there to ensure that the customers are aware of the various products, schemes and price offerings. Effectively employed they can attract potential customers and increase daily sales.

Display types and their uses
When it comes to point of sale displays appearance is a priority. In order to entice and inform they should be placed in appropriate holders or dispensers to make them easily visible and available to the customers. Excellently written literature or flashy leaflets are of no use unless they are correctly placed in menu holders or leaflet dispensers where they will have the most impact. Placement in such a way makes it easier for your staff to access them also.

The same goes for large posters and banners, not only do they serve the purpose of catching the attention of the customers but also direct them to the other sections in the store. A shabbily glued poster to the wall is no way to set up effective POS displays in the store. Poster holders are the best way to do this. At check out counters, placement of poster holders can be very effective in enticing the customers to purchase something.

All these and many other display options are available to business and store owners in order for them to partake in effective communication with their customers.
