Men who have once again left it until the last moment to buy Christmas presents will help keep cash registers ringing over the coming days, retail analysts have said.
With just over two days left until Christmas, men desperately searching for gifts for their wives, girlfriends and other family members will help to boost retailers' trading figures.
According to a report by the Press Association, Selfridges expects many males to once again conform to the stereotypical image and do a mad shopping dash before the shops close on Christmas Eve.
A Selfridges spokeswoman said: "In previous years the majority of customers in these last few days are men and we're expecting to see the same pattern this year. Shopping is quite daunting for them and they leave it to the last minute."
The New West End Company, which represents retailers on and around Bond Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street in London, said businesses would be rearranging their window displays to ensure that gifts aimed at women were prominently placed.
Analysts expect tomorrow (23) to be the busiest shopping day of the year.
