Co-operative Food has started selling electrical goods at a number of its stores, as it looks to extend the range of non-food items it offers.
As part of a tie-up with sister company Co-operative Electrical, the retailer now stocks items including televisions, food processors and other domestic appliances at 32 shops across the country. The initiative follows a successful pilot scheme at five stores earlier in the year.
“The pilots have been a great success and the new-look electrical offer will complement and enhance our customers’ existing food shopping experience,” said Co-op Food acting chief executive Sean Toal. “Another key advantage is that the in store ‘electrical shops’ will be open during the same trading hours as the food stores.”
The Co-op Group is currently aiming to expand its food retail division over the next few months. Co-op Electrical, meanwhile, recently relaunched its website with the inclusion of updated buying guides and new video content.
Last month, the Co-op announced plans to extend the number of places available on its Graduate Leadership Programme in response to strong demand.
