Big names set for Wembley City

High-profile fashion retailers are among those poised to take up residency at the new London Designer Outlet shopping centre at Wembley City in north-west London, it has been revealed.

The Independent reports that Nike, Superdry and Armani are all currently in negotiations with property firm Quintain, which is overseeing the development of the site. Marks & Spencer and Gap are already understood to have committed to the centre, while a number of restaurants are also being lined up.

“This location allows international and London brands to open outlets on the west side of London that will not interfere with their full-price London stores,” said CB Richard Ellis retail adviser Eric Eastman.

Quintain anticipates that the Wembley City development will comprise 85 retail outlets, 15 restaurants and cafes and a Cineworld cinema when it opens in 2013. The construction of the site is a key element of the ongoing regeneration of the wider area around Wembley Stadium.

This month, the latest Globe Shopper City Index named London as Europe’s top retail destination, placing it ahead of 32 other cities including Madrid, Barcelona and Paris.
