Fashion chain Topshop has opened a new flagship outlet at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex, as big-name retailers brace themselves for the all-important Christmas period.
The 25,000 sq ft store opened last Thursday and brings the Topshop and Topman brands – which had previously been located in separate shops at Lakeside – under one roof. In September, Topshop’s parent company Arcadia opened a revamped Bhs outlet at Lakeside.
“We are delighted to unveil a new flagship store for Topshop and Topman at Lakeside,” said Arcadia group property director Chris Harris. “Both brands will be offering great consumer competitions and experiences over the opening weekend.”
Jonathan Ainsley, Capital Shopping Centres’ asset management director for the south, added that Arcadia’s redevelopment programme had been the largest overhaul at Lakeside so far. He hailed the revamp as evidence that Lakeside remains a major draw to consumers in the south-east.
Last week, commercial property developer Land Securities revealed that it had already pre-let the majority of units at its Trinity Leeds centre, which is due to open in February 2013.
