High street fashion retailer Topshop is preparing to launch a range of mobile sales tools in the hope of building on its current online success.
According to a report by New Media Age, 8 per cent of the company's e-commerce sales are via mobile channels, despite the fact that Topshop does not yet have a dedicated mobile internet website.
The fashion brand has said mobile sales are three to four times higher than last year, something that has prompted the company to design a mobile site, to make purchasing on the move simpler for smartphone users, as well as come up with apps for the iPhone and iPad.
Kate Walmsley, head of e-commerce at Topshop, said, "Eight percent of sales are coming through mobile, if you include iPad in there, which is three or four times what it was last year.
"It's pretty strong growth, so we are recognising that it is a really important channel for us."
