London Westfield has been named as Britain’s top shopping centre, earning plaudits for its range of leading retailers and brands.
According to the Retail Gazette, the latest annual report from retail and e-commerce consultancy firm Venuescore declared London Westfield to be the best of the 2,000 commercial venues surveyed. Bluewater, Sheffield’s Meadowhall and the Trafford Centre in Manchester were second, third and fourth respectively.
Westfield London – located in Shepherd’s Bush – was praised for its unique selection of retail outlets. Westfield Stratford City, which opened in September, came sixth on the list. However, its position is expected to improve as vacant units are gradually filled over the coming months.
The study also singled out London’s West End, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool as offering the most complete retail experiences in the UK. Knightsbridge, Bond Street and Bicester village were highlighted as Britain’s most upmarket shopping destinations, with Salford, Bootle and Accrington at the opposite end of the scale.
Last week, the Trafford Centre was confirmed as the venue for the second Power Snooker Masters Trophy, which attracted big-name stars including Ronnie O’Sullivan and Ding Junhui in 2010.
