Leading DIY retail chain B&Q has created a graduate training scheme with a starting salary of £25k.
Twenty graduates will be selected for the fast track programme, which will last two or three years before the participants can apply to become store managers.
The aim of the scheme is to train graduates in a wide range of retail and general management practices at B&Q, which employs more than 30,000 people and has 300 stores in the UK.
"Here at B&Q people are at the heart of what we do and so we are looking for young talent with bags of enthusiasm and a great attitude to work in our team," said Euan Sutherland, chief executive officer of parent company Kingfisher, at a meeting with MPs.
"We’re continuing to invest in youth talent and improving the skills of young people in a number of different ways including our first ever youth board, our Job Done! schools programme; plus a number of new initiatives which will be launching from next year."
