High street stalwart Marks & Spencer has unveiled a new strategy for its food retail at Christmas, in the shape of a new 'click and collect' service.
The retailer already offers the chance to buy party food online, but is extending the concept to favourite options from its foodhall range, allowing consumers to choose their purchases online before collecting them in store.
"Effectively, we have had an online food service for a number of years," said a spokesperson.
"[We] have added a dining section containing more specialist products including vegetarian options and gluton-free items. This was really designed to give customers more flexibility and choice."
With less than 100 shopping days left before Christmas, the retailer expects great interest in the scheme, as the festive period is always its busiest.
The spokesperson added: "Celebration is a key part of our food offering and we are happy to offer our foodhall favourites online as we are a primary destination for events food."
