High street retailer Poundworld has announced the launch of a new strategy in the form of small shops named Poundworld Express.
The concept will debut with a store in Wakefield, the birthplace of the brand in 1974. Further stores will follow across the UK within the next year.
Poundworld trading director Chris Edwards Jnr said: "Poundworld Express will be the ultimate convenience store offering our most popular items at the same recession busting prices.
"We hope this will be a one stop shop for people hoping to grab everyday essentials from milk to toiletries and cleaning products."
He added: “We already have a high street presence in 120 towns nationwide and will be expanding this reach with our new accessible concept. This is another exciting development for the Poundworld brand as we adapt to changing consumer needs."
Last year, the company created new multi-price chain Discount UK, which so far has 17 UK outlets.
