Fifth London 2012 Olympics store opens

A fifth shop has opened dedicated to selling London 2012 Olympics merchandise, this time at Stansted Airport, following openings at four other London locations.

The existing stores are situated at Heathrow Terminal 5, John Lewis Oxford Street, St Pancras International rail station and Paddington station.

Further openings are scheduled for John Lewis Stratford City and Heathrow Terminal 3 later this year, as the big event gets closer.

The shop will sell mascot soft toys, themed bedding, children's annuals, books, key rings and jewellery. There will also be model red buses and traditional taxis customised with London 2012 artwork; and special edition coins from the Royal Mint.

It has been predicted that sales of London 2012 merchandise will raise around £80m, helping with the cost of hosting the event.

"We are delighted to welcome the new London 2012 shop to Stansted Airport," said the airport's operations director Martin Lyall.

"It provides travellers with a great opportunity to share in the excitement which the London 2012 Games will generate."
