UK stationer WH Smith Plc has said it expects its full year results to be in line with market expectations.
In a pre-close trading statement released today, the company said its high street retail business has continued to deliver a solid performance thanks to a "focus on gross margin gains" and "tight cost control".
WH Smith's travel business is also said to have put in a "good performance" which has resulted in new international business.
The company also announced today that Simon Marinker, managing director of its travel retail arm, is set to retire at the end of the year. Mr Marinker, who has been with the group for 34 years, will continue to work with WH Smith in a consultative capacity.
The division's chief operating office, Simon Smith, will take over the role and will report directly to the group's chief executive Kate Swann.
WH Smith will release its preliminary results for the 12 months to August 31 on Thursday, October 13.
