Underwear chain Ann Summers has announced it is to start selling clubwear items in its UK stores.
The move has been prompted by a surge in interest from shoppers. The lingerie specialist said it had experienced a 300 per cent jump in sales through its online and party business, according to a report by fashion news website Drapers.
Items in the range include a slash-necked black dress, an animal print bodysuit and a scarlet jumpsuit. The retailer said the increase in sales is evidence of rising demand from women for edgier clothes.
The company's chief executive Jacqueline Gold said: "Customers are already wearing our underwear as clubwear so it’s a straightforward move."
Ann Summers announced at the end of last month that it had also seen a significant uplift in sales of its catwalk-inspired underwear ranges. The company hopes to win custom by appealing to women bored of the usual offerings from rival retailers.
