Work has begun on the extension of Essex's Lakeside Retail Park to provide space for three new stores, including furnishings seller CSL and childrenswear specialist Mamas & Papas.
The shopping centre, already home to well-known high street brands Argos, Next Home, Mothercare, Toys R Us, Game, Currys and Costa, will increase to 385,000 sq ft from its current 360,000 sq ft.
Owner Land Securities has said that the new deals are for leases of at least 10 years. Portfolio director Hermione Mackrill said: "In a challenging retail environment, the expansion of Lakeside Retail Park demonstrates continued retailer interest in the scheme and reinforces its position as one of the largest and most successful retail parks in the UK."
The development, which is expected to complete in summer 2012, will also include the relocation of Pizza Hut.
Lakeside Retail Park is situated beside the Lakeside Shopping Centre, made famous by 1998 BBC docusoap Lakesiders and 2007 follow-up Return To Lakesiders.
