Major high street retailer Marks & Spencer is due to release a trading statement on Wednesday which it's believed will show an increase in UK sales.
Despite tough conditions, analysts expect the company to reveal a 1.5 per cent increase in like-for-like sales during the 13 weeks to June 30. The figure would represent a solid sales boost following the 0.1 per cent increase posted following the previous quarter.
According to a report by the Scotsman, the retailer's takings have been helped by its Dine in for £10 special offers and Wise Buys food ranges which have been advertised instore and on the company's website.
Despite concerns over consumer confidence and a fall in many people's disposable income, a number of retailers have been revealing positive growth. Homeware retailer Dunelm Mill announced an 11 per cent increase in total sales in the 13 weeks to July 2 last week, while on Monday, Sports Direct said it had spent £7m acquiring major stakes in high street fashion brands USC and Cruise Clothing.
