Debenhams hopes to keep Jane Norman in its wardrobe

Shopping for clothes
Department store Debenhams has submitted a bid to buy stock from fashion chain Jane Norman, in a move which may help the struggling clothes retailer.

Newspaper The Independent has reported that Jane Norman, which already has concessions in Debenhams shops, was put up for sale earlier this year by its 15 backing banks and is currently struggling with debts of £140m.

Debenhams wants to retain Jane Norman in its stores, as the concessions are profitable, but does not wish to buy the retailer's 91 high street branches.

Jane Norman has also reportedly attracted attention from Aurora Fashions, which owns rival brands Warehouse, Oasis and Coast.
