Costa Coffee perks up sales for Whitbread

Coffee chain and beverage retailer Costa Coffee has given parent company Whitbread a much-needed boost with a strong sales performance and by opening more stores.

Costa has increased its sales by 22.5 per cent since 2010, meaning an increase in group sales of 9.2 per cent.

In another positive result for the cafe company, it was named Brand Of The Year by Marketing Week magazine in May this year. During the last year it has opened 73 new branches and seen a rise in the popularity of its loyalty scheme for customers.

Whitbread chief executive Andy Harrison said: "We are continuing with disciplined investment in our network to deliver our five-year growth milestones."

Branding is a very important consideration for growing businesses and presentation within stores is an essential part of this.
